It is very difficult to get seat in Vellore Institute of Technology with such rank in any campus/branch. To secure admission into VIT you should have secured a rank within 45000. As you have secured a rank of 99000 it is highly unlikely to get admission. Do not get disheartened, we would suggest you to apply for other upcoming entrance examination for admission to Engineering courses and do well in those exams.

20k rank is good rank but it's quite difficult to getting chance to admission in VIT Vellore campus. Because in Vellore campus the closing rank for CSE department is 8k and IT department closing rank is 16k. So 20k is quite higher rank. But you can go for counselling. Otherwise you will get easily VIT Bhopal or VIT Amravati college with CSE or IT department.

So talking about VIT vellore and Chennai the admission in this rank might be not possible because they have a quiet high cutoffs so your rank should be atleast within 15k but worry not you can definitely try for VIT Amravati and Bhopal as they are also a very good options and the field you can get are Mechanical, Electrical, etc.
