After BE in mechanical engineering which is the MBA course suitable. What are exams for it.
Hi Sameer
MBA after Bachelors in mechanical engineering is a popular career choice these days as it enables one to gain knowledge of both technical as well as management roles in industries. An MBA degree after engineering accelerates one's career growth steadily. Now coming to the various MBA courses you can take after engineering. The answer would be any MBA specialization . Yes, you can take up any MBA specialization of your choice. There are namely three major specialization when it comes to MBA. They are :-
- MBA in Finance
- MBA in Marketing
- MBA in Human Resources .
These are the three major specializations available when it comes to MBA. Some colleges may offer other specializations like MBA in Industry management or MBA in Engineering Management or MBA in Agriculture management etc. So the choice is upto you to decide upon the kind of specialization you wish to pursue. Most B schools in India like the IIMs do not particularly offer a specialization as their flagship course is named as PGDM or Post Graduate Diploma in Management which is equivalent to an MBA degree. The course covers almost all the specializations and gives you better placement opportunities.
Now coming to the admission process of the various B schools . For admission in the IIMs , you need to give the CAT exam. Now the CAT exam is held every year during the month of November. Since you are from the engineering background, the trend has been seen that you have to atleasr score a percentile of above 95 in CAT to get calls from the various IIMs. The top IIMs like IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Calcutta require CAT percentiles above 99. The IIM calls are based on your 10th , 12th and UG scores along with your CAT score. Different IIMs have their own method of giving weightage to the various scores. After getting the calls from the IIMs , you have to clear the GDPI and WAT rounds to get admission in the IIMs. CATs score are also accepted by other B schools as well like FMS and the various IITs offering MBA programs. Now you can appear for the other B school entrance exams as well to get admission in the various other top B schools in India . The various other B school entrance exams you could appear are XAT , SNAP , CMAT etc. If you want to study MBA abroad , you need to give the GMAT exam along with an English proficiency exam like TOEFL / IELTS. Some Indian B schools like the Indian School Of Business accepts GMAT scores for admission into their MBA program.
I hope I have been able to answer your query. My best wishes to you for your future.
Thanks
Hello Sameer,
You can pursue any of the MBA courses after BE in Mechanical engineering. If you are sure to pursue management degree and is serious about it, I suggest you to start your preparation for CAT examination to get into IIMs. There are other good examinations like XAT, SNAP, IIFT, CET, etc.
Specialization should incline with your interests. For that, I suggest you spend some time with yourself, evaluate the options that you have and then make choices accordingly. At this point, you should be concerned about which exam to target and how to crack it. Other things will naturally follow this step.
Good Luck.
