Are B.Sc courses entrance based or merit based?

Hi
Most of the colleges give admission to students based on their score in entrance exams. Generally every college conduct their own entrance exams in which you have to qualify.
But there are several universities like delhi university which give admission to students on the basis of their marks in class 12th.
So you can take admission by both methods.
