Yeah..NEET PG is the pioneer exam at present which allots government seats in almost all the specialities. Also there are other exams like PGI exam which provide admission to PGI Chandigarh, which is the number 1 institute for PG in our country.
Hi Subash,
Similar to NEET UG there had been NEET PG entrance test. The NEET post graduate entrance test has 300 questions from all the 19 subjects. The date of NEET PG 2018 is declared on 7th January 2018. As I go through your question, I came to know that U are willing to pursue Neurosurgery. To go through it you need to complete MS general surgery and Mch Neurosurgery.
Let's talk about your goal to do neurosurgery there are two national institutes that offer direct Mch neurosurgery, those are AIIMS New Delhi and NIMHANS Banglore. For this, you need to write their own exams AIIMS PG entrance and NIMHANS Post graduate entrance. There are 4 seats in NIMHANS and 2 seats in AIIMS. There we get a stifund of 50,000 for NIMHANS and 60,000 in AIIMS. AIIMS conducts exam twice a year. NIMHANS is a 5-year course whereas AIIMS Is a 6-year course. There would be nominal fees of about 10,000
Another way is to do MS general surgery followed by super specialisation of Mch neurosurgery.
For that you need to crack MS general surgery in NEET UG, As you are asking for a government college there would not be any fees except nominal fees up to 10 to 20,000 depending upon the university and for Super specialisation too you need to write a NEET entrance and get into Mch Neurosurgery.
I prefer you strive hard for NIMHANS or AIIMS (As they are best)
I hope I have answered your question. Thanks for asking.
At Postgraduation level, the medical entrance exams which will allow you to join MS courses include NEET PG, JIPMER PG, AIIMS PG and PGIMER. Post that, for MCH courses, there is NEET SS while AIIMS, JIPMER and PGIMER also conduct their separate selection exams. As per the data available on the MCI website, there are no medical colleges which offer Neurosurgery at MS level. Rather, you will have to opt for MS in General Surgery and then proceed for a MCH specialization in Neurosurgery. For MS in General Surgery, there are 265 colleges offering a total of 2763 seats for admissions. NEET PG 2018, scheduled to be held on January 7, 2018, will offer admissions to 2629 of these seats across 262 colleges. AIIMS PG will offer admissions to 59 MS in General Surgery seats while PGIMER and JIPMER will offer admissions to 55 and 20 seats respectively. Some of the good colleges which you can join through NEET PG to pursue MS in General Surgery include Maulana Azad Medical College and Vardhman Mahavir Medical College both of which are in New Delhi, Christian Medical College in Vellore, St. John's Medical College in Bangalore and Kasturba Medical College in Mangalore. The fees for MS courses vary depending on the college you join. For a good Government college, the fees can be less than Rs. 5 lakh per annum. In the case of AIIMS, the fees is around Rs. 1000 per annum. JIPMER charges around Rs. 25,000 per annum while PGIMER charges around Rs. 7000 per annum. For a good private college however, the fees can be well in excess of Rs. 20 lakh. Post your MS, when you opt for MCH in Neurosurgery, you will have the option of applying for 242 seats from across 77 colleges out of which 201 seats will be offered by 51 Government colleges. The best colleges are AIIMS and JIPMER in this regard, where the fees are around Rs. 2000 per annum. Another established Government college, NIMHANS in Bangalore, charges around Rs. 50,000 per annum. The colleges affiliated to the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Delhi charge around Rs. 10,000 per annum while the Government-run Baba Farid University in Punjab charges around Rs. 6 lakh per annum. Many private colleges charge upwards of Rs. 15 lakh. So again, the fees will depend on the college you wish to join. Hope this helps!
Yes Dear , There is also Exam NEET PG for Getting Admission in MS or Any pg branch in Govt. Or private Medical Colleges of India . Rajat Dave ( Representative @ Career 360 )
To become a neurosurgeon, you have to do M.Ch. (Neurosurgery). It can be done after completing M.S. (General Surgery) and taking NEET SS exam.
There are integrated M.Ch. programmes after MBBS too in AIIMS and NIMHANS, for which you have to attempt their PG entrances.
To complete MS in Neurosurgeon, you will have to give NEET PG exam and to do MCH in Neurosurgeon you will have to give NEET SS exam. Also, level of both the courses is different as to become MCH you will have to complete MS course with decent score and after that you can give NEET SS as this is the basic eligibility to appear in NEET super speciality entrance.
Apart from this,NEET PG 2018 exam will be held on 7th Jan 2018 and NEET SS registration will be started in the month of April-May and exam is held in second week of June.
And if you talk about fee structure then it varies college to college so please share which particular college you are asking for?
Hope this helps!!!
