• passed any Diploma or B.Sc. (PCM, PMCs, PME) or equivalent examination
• minimum of 45% (40% in case of SC, ST and Backward Classes of Karnataka candidates

So a student having diploma in engineering can apply to jain university B.tech lateral entry program.

Bachelor of technology in computer science and engineering is three year (6 semester) full time undergraduate lateral entry engineering program offered by Jain University , Bangalore.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA  : A candidate who passed any diploma or B.Sc (PCM, PMC's, PME) or equivalent examination and scored a minimum of 45% marks taken together in all the compulsory subjects of the final  year diploma examination will be eligible for admission to the Btech courses.

Diploma in computer science and engineering , Diploma in information science and engineering , Diploma in electronics and communication engineering , Diploma in electronic and instrumentation engineering.

Admissions through all the courses are granted through JET (Jain entrance test)

Jain University also offers B. Tech in Lateral Entry mode for Diploma holders. Bachelor's degree with minimum 50% marks is the minimum eligibility criteria for MBA, M.Sc, MCA, MA, MMS & M.Com courses. Admission to all the courses is granted through Jain Entrance Test (JET).
