New: Check NIRF DU Colleges Ranking
Latest: DU Admission Process
Hello Parbhat,
Delhi university allows students of other colleges to do a course, take part in competitions etc. but there is a criterion for that. It is perhaps the best thing about Delhi University that cross-college interactions are promoted to connect the DU. While students of other colleges are allowed to participate in some fests or workshops, but there are some activities that are only meant for students of that particular college, societies being one of them. Following are the lists of events and workshops which can be attended by other college’s student-
1. College societies- I am sorry but this is the first and only NO. A college society is an integral part of college that represents the institution at various platforms. Hence, these societies are only meant for the students who are studying in that college itself.
2. Internship Fairs- Usually, a college has an annual internship fair but even departments (like commerce) can organize one. In internship fairs, usually other DU colleges are allowed but you need to register on an online form they provide before going to such events. The form is released a week or two prior to the programmes.
3. Department Competitions- in such events, other college students are invited to take part in competitions, if there are cash prizes, they announce it early otherwise, you always get your certificates. Rules and regulations are also provided. Usually, every detail is mentioned in e-posters.
4. Fests- it is well known that you can go to fests of any college in DU provided you are a student of DU, having college id-card and a pass or invitation. During fests, there are various kinds of competitions happening, in which you can take part.
5. Add-on courses- if you are a DU student, you can join add-on courses of any college if you meeting the eligibility criteria issued by that college. For some add-on courses admission is on first come first serve basis while some have admissions based on merit. For that, you can refer to the college’s site.
How to know who can participate-
If you are a DU student then hardly there is an event of another college in which you cannot participate. But if you belong to a non-DU institution then you might not be allowed. If you are from a private college, then it will be difficult. Generally, even students of DTU, IGDTU, GGISPU ( even Amity) are allowed but to confirm this, you have to see the announcement details of that event, it is mostly mentioned, otherwise WhatsApp on the coordinator’s number they provide.
Also, there are various DU news platforms like Facebook and Instagram pages that release such details which you can follow to know more.
Hope this helped!
