You should prioritise top-tier institutions with vacancies and a mix of core branches from Top NITs before going in for Tier 2 branches. Here is how you can go about filling your choices -
Top Tier - You must put top-tier NITs and IIITs that offer CSE ; additionally, you can also opt for allied branches in these top institutions.
Mid Tier - If you are someone who wants to go for brand value, the Mid Tier NIT or IIITs paired with CSE is a good option. Additionally, you can also go in for Chemical Engineering at Top Tier NITs.
North Eastern or New NITs - IF you want to increase your chances of getting into an NIT or a GFTI, you can also opt for NITs in the North Eastern States or some newly established NITs. In such institutions, seats for core branches and CSE often remain vacant during the subsequent rounds as well.
