Hello,
In my opinion, both are hand in hand for the engineering students. Because, as per college concern good college means better placement without that no better career and in case of branch depends on the scope of the branch which you select for example now days IT is leading area for the job opprtunities therefore canditates whoes banchleor degree is in computer science get more opprunity to get the better job than the students who opt for other branch.

Hello there,
Both college and branch is important to get a good job. If the branch you choose doesn't interest you, then you may not get good grades, which will automatically affect your SGPA. But if you have in your mind that whichever branch you choose, you will study well, then I would say go for a good college even if you get a lower branch there. Studying a lower branch in IIT is good enough. The college is reputed and will help you getting good placement.
