electrical vs civil job opportunities??

Both the branches are good at their own place. Both these courses are great choices for many engineering students. When comparing Electrical with Civil , then let me tell you that placements for electrical are better, but jobs opportunities for Civil are more.

If we see in top colleges like IIT's , NIT's , etc, then there is no doubt that Electrical branch has more placements than Civil. In IIT's, the highest package for electrical branch, sometimes goes in many lakhs. But also the package in civil is also good. But it is not so high as compared to electrical.

But, the demand for electrical engineers would experience little or no change through 2018 whereas, Civil Engineering jobs, face bright prospects through 2018, with an expected growth rate of 18 percent. The jobs opportunities in civil engineering is going to increase much faster than the average for all occupations through 2018.

The major requirement for civil engineers comes from the need to design and build infrastructure and buildings to cater to the growing population. And obviously we can see that Indian government is spending money on infrastructure nowadays.
