There can be many references to open category in karnataka,open category in karanataka in reference to government colleges can be called as general or unreserved category
OPN or open which are used for seat allocation in private colleges as follows:

Open quota seats are those seats which are open to all based on all india merit i.e., Anyone in India can compete for these seats based on All India Rank.
(OPN) - Open Quota - Note: Non Karnataka candidates eligible only for Open Quota
GMP is General Merit-Private (Karnataka) that is applicants from karnataka only
