How my domicile is decided for neet counselling

To be eligible for domicile of any state for NEET counselling ,a candidate needs to satisfy any of the following criteria :

• You should have  studied 11 and 12 from that state.
• You should be living in that state for more than 10/5 years
• You should be a permanent resident of that state.

And the eligibility criterias are different for different states , you can get the dkmicile certificate for NEET  satisfying the eligibility criteria for your state. And having a domicile certificate of any state , you can apply for the state counselling of that state.

Often privileges are given to people if they belong to a particular geographic region. It is not easy to prove the fact that you belong to a particular geographic region. Authorities provide different criteria to prove one’s eligibility to belong to a geographical region.

e.g. Karnataka state says that if your parents have lived in Karnataka for more than 6 years then you can say you belong to Karnataka.

Domicile Certificate is a certificate issued by a govt authority that certifies that you are a domicile of that geographical region.

In Karnataka you can apply to the Taluka Revenue office to for a Domicile Certificate.

You need to provide your details like Name, Father's Name, Sex, Residential Address, Purpose for Application, Ration Card no etc.

You also need to prove your address by documents like Ration Card, House Tax Receipts, Voter's Id or Birth Certificate.

You also need to submit a signed affidavit with a sworn statement in front of the court stating that you or your ward has completed his or her studies in Karnataka and you are providing correct information which if found false may mean malafied intention.

The Domicile Certificate mentions that the person named is a resident at such and such address and the certificate has been issued for such and such purpose.

Why would you need a Domicile Certificate?

• To avail of the resident quota reservation in educational institutes
• To avail of the resident quota reservation in Government Services
• Wherever the proof of residence in the state is needed

Unfortunately Domicile Certificate is not acceptable as an address proof to open a bank account or to apply for a passport.

Every State has its own rules for issuing a domicile Certificate. In Karnataka schools normally apply for domicile Certificate of its students on behalf of the students before CET exams
