Assuming you are from General Category, and are not specific regarding your choice of institute, in today's date, where every year seats are increased, a Rank of around 10k, ensures you a confirm seat in one of the IITs. Perhaps, if you want a plethora of choices during Counselling Procedure, you need to secure atleast within the First 6k Ranks.
