There are a few factors which you must keep in mind before you launch your preparation strategy:

1. Thoroughly go through the syllabus and exam pattern of CSIR UGC NET, as you will have a grip over the topics and marking scheme of the exam. This will give you an overall idea what you need to study. This will also save you a lot of time which you may waste in looking for apt books and study material and bothering what and where to study from.

2. Once you are clear about the topics, chapters and exam pattern, find out the best books to study from.

3. Divide the time/months/hours you have with you before the exam and break your topics accordingly so that you can finish the study/preparation at least a month before the exam day.

4. During your preparation, do not forget to make short notes. Use these short notes during revision.

5. Sample papers, mock tests and previous years question papers are very critical. At all costs, you must practise sample papers/previous years question papers which will help you in practising a vast question bank and you will learn how to answer/calculate so many questions. You speed and accuracy will also be polished as you continue to practise more and more questions. This will ultimately help you on the exam day.
