I am a male, 55 yrs, a disabled person got 118 Rank in LAWCET-TG-2026. Principal, Osmania University denied admission with a reason that 5YDC is intended only for TENDER AGE candidates / FRESHLY PASS OUT INTERMIEDIATE candidates. I am preparing Writ Petition to file in High Court, Telangana.
Hello, and I understand why you are concerned. At 55 years of age, being denied admission after securing Rank 118 in TG LAWCET 2026 can understandably be frustrating.
If you are preparing a writ petition, there is an important point worth examining carefully:
- The official TG LAWCET 2026 eligibility criteria for the 5-year LL.B. require a candidate to have passed the Intermediate/10+2 examination with the prescribed marks. I do not see an age restriction in the official eligibility criteria.
- The official TG LAWCET 2026 notification states that the examination is for admission to 3-year and 5-year LL.B. programmes.
- Osmania University's own law-college information states that admission to the 5-year LL.B. requires 10+2/Intermediate or equivalent and LAWCET, with admission based on merit and applicable rules. It does not state that the 5-year course is restricted to “tender age” or “freshly passed Intermediate candidates.”
- The 2026 admission process itself recognises the 5-year LL.B. as a regular programme, and the official counselling portal lists 5-year LL.B. admissions.
For your writ petition
Your lawyer may therefore consider specifically examining whether the Principal's reason—“5YDC is intended only for tender-age/fresh Intermediate candidates”—has a valid basis in an applicable statutory rule, prospectus, university regulation, or government order.
Do not rely only on the absence of an age limit. Your petition should be supported by the 2026 TG LAWCET notification, eligibility rules, counselling notification, Osmania University admission rules, your Rank 118 result, and the written communication/order by which admission was refused.
Since this is a legal matter involving a High Court petition, please have a Telangana High Court advocate verify the latest university regulations and frame the legal grounds before filing. I would not want to give you a definitive opinion on the outcome without examining the actual refusal document.
Your Rank 118 is very strong, so it is certainly reasonable to have the eligibility issue examined properly rather than accepting an informal verbal reason.
