I AM A P.G. IN ZOOLOGY. I CAN APPLY FOR UGC NET ON EVS APART FROM CSIR NET LIFE SCIENCE.WILL IT GIVE ANY BENEFIT IF I ENROLL FOR PHD?

Applying for CSIR UGC NET is much apt for you as per your subjects, as the exam is specifically conducted for candidates with post graduation in science streams. Secondly, if you pursue PHD., then you will be eligible to avail 5% relaxation in the qualifying marks in Post Graduation. This means that if you need to have 55% marks in PG to apply for NET, then with PHD, you only need 50% marks in PG to apply for the exam. However, a certain date is there, by when your post graduation must be completed. For instance, to apply for December NET 2018, the Ph.D.degree holders whose Master’s level examination have been completed by 19th September 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e.from 55% to 50%) for appearing in NET.
