I am in 2nd year, is it okay if I start doing mocks of GATE?

In second year, I dont think this will be helpful. Better to focus on your B.tech course as of now and when you go in 3 year then start Gate preparation by checking the syllabus and books as per your branch and then go for Mocks for final revision.
