Is it okay, if I pause the online test and then start it after sometime for Gate 2017?

No, I would suggest avoid this habit asap. Because online mocks are basically useful for time management and this also helps to know about the weaker areas of students in their preparation. If you pause the test in between then it will not be so beneficial for you.
