Hi Krishna,
CBSE provides a correction window for applicants to correct any details wrongly entered in the application form. The window is available from March 12 to March 16. So you need to correct your category then, or else it will not be possible later for the merit list will be prepared accordingly.
Hey Krishna!
While applying for NEET, you can only choose one of UR (Unreserved), SC (Scheduled Caste), ST (Scheduled Tribe) or OBC (Other Backward Class). This information will be used to determine your reservation for admission to MBBS/BDS seats at All India Quota level in Government Medical Colleges and for admissions to Deemed and Central Universities. So if you feel you are eligible for reservation under any of these categories, you can enter the same in your application form. If you are a SC or OBC candidate, but have entered UR, then you will be able to change the same when the NEET application correction window opens between March 12 and 16.
Now you have asked if you can enter 2A in your form. 2A is a reservation category exclusively applicable to the state of Karnataka, meaning you will be eligible for reservations through this category only in the medical colleges located in the state of Karnataka and for which the counselling is conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority post the declaration of NEET results. For applying through this category, you will have to fill and submit a separate form which will be released by the Karnataka counselling authority in the month of June or July. Similarly, all states have their own applicable state reservations which can only be selected when applying for that particular state's counselling.
2A refers to a backward caste but you will have to check if your particular caste comes under the Central list of Scheduled Castes or OBCs under Non Creamy Layer (NCL). Only then can you avail the reservation benefits under SC or OBC NCL and select the same in your application form. Otherwise you will have to proceed as a UR candidate only for AIQ and Deemed/Central admissions, and avail the 2A benefit when applying in Karnataka.
