18476 rank in VITEEE19 is relatively good. VIT has five categories in which it provides admission to its students. The fee for every category is higher than the previous category. The fee for category 1 is around 200k and it keeps rising up to 500k for category 5. The higher your rank the higher the category. For example, if there are 200 seats in CSE branch the seats are divided into 5. The first 40 students choosing CSE will get category 1 and the next 40 will get category 2 and so on.
Getting CSE even in category 5 is highly unlikely. You can get IT in category 4 or 5 and almost every other branch in category 1 or 2. Since your rank is below 20k the DD amount for attending the counselling is also less, so if you need a backup attending the counselling is a very good option.
