i got ec branch in pes university bengalore. should i choose this college or go for tier 2 college for cse
First of all, congrats on getting into PES University, which is one of the most reputed private universities in South India. Now about your dilemma , EC at PES vs CSE in a Tier 2 college.
PES has great faculty, strong placements, and top companies regularly recruit from there. Even students from EC branch get into IT jobs if they learn coding well. So, if you’re okay with working hard on your programming skills and interested in a good campus + brand name, PES EC is a strong choice.
On the other hand, if the Tier 2 college you're considering has very strong placement records for CSE, and your passion is strictly software/coding, then switching might make sense. But in general, PES EC is a better long-term option, especially if you make use of the resources and keep upskilling.
Thank you!
If you’ve got EC in PES University, that’s already a strong offer PES is a top private university in Bangalore with solid infrastructure, industry exposure, and placement opportunities, even for EC. However, if your goal is a CSE-focused career (like software, AI, data), and a tier-2 college offers you CSE, it depends on how "tier-2" the other option is. If it's a decent college with good CSE faculty and placements, and you’re passionate about coding, CSE might be better in the long run. But if the tier-2 college lacks brand value, exposure, or consistent placements, then PES EC is the safer, more reputable option plus you can still upskill in software and sit for many IT roles through EC too.
Hello Bhoomika,
If you love CSE and have a Tier 2 college with CSE at hand, consider it over EC at PES University. PES is a recognized Tier 1.5 college with brilliant infrastructure and industry connections. However, branch matters a lot and since you want core software roles, it has an impact on your opportunities.
But, if you are comfortable switching to CSE-related roles down the line (upskilling or internal branch change), then PES University's reputation and exposure can still provide opportunities in the future. At the end of the day, decide what is more important to you: branch vs brand.
I prefered cse related branch ,but also want placements and learning
