To get in PSUs, you will have to crack gate with good marks and good rank and you also will have to pass the personal interview in order to get selected in PSUs.

My only concern is will they(psu) permit me

A few psu have "mechanical and automation engineering " in its criteria list rest all wants only mechanical engineering...

yeah correct.
Mechanical and automation students are not hired by much psus

if someone is not interested in doing m.tech (having mechanical and automation degree) and the psu's are less for those students
So logically they should not prepared for gate???

Listen, if you are not interested in M.tech then doing is completely useless. If you want to get in PSUs, just start preparing for it.Get good marks good rank and with that regardless if whatever bachelor degree you have, you will get a fine job in a psu.
