I have the rank 428 for Bsc. Biotechnology for Manipal. (Met 2026). Till now i have not received any information. I did write to the admissions office and they said seats are being allotted rank wise and they asked me to wait. This was 10 days back. Do i still have a chance?
Hello Dear Student,
A rank of 428 for B.Sc. Biotechnology at Manipal is actually a strong rank, and admissions are often processed in multiple rounds based on seat acceptance, withdrawals, fee payment deadlines, and movement in the waitlist. Manipal's admission process is rank-based, and candidates are allotted seats as higher-ranked students either accept, decline, or upgrade their choices.
A few reasons not to panic yet:
- The admissions office has already confirmed that allotments are being made rank-wise and asked you to wait.
- Counselling and seat allotment typically continue through multiple rounds.
- Biotechnology programs generally see some movement because students often choose medicine, engineering, or other life-science programs instead. This creates vacancies in later rounds.
What you should do now:
- Check your admission portal and registered email regularly (including spam/junk folders).
- Keep your documents and fee payment arrangements ready.
- Stay in touch with the admissions office if there is no update after the next counselling round.
- Do not withdraw from other backup options until you receive a final decision.
Based on the information available, rank 428 is not a rank that would normally rule you out outright , especially if admissions are still ongoing. The fact that the admissions team has not rejected your application and specifically asked you to wait is a positive sign.
Hope it helps!
