It totally depends on your aim. If you are determined to take admission in top NITs then you can take a drop for a year. Otherwise, you should take admission in other colleges. There are many good private college who consider JEE Main marks to take admission. If you are taking a drop for a year make it count be motivated to crack your exam because it effects your placements.
You should give as many as entrance exam like BITSAT, SRM, VIT, Manipal and Amrita as they are top private colleges and provides very good placements.

It depends on how much hard work you put on this year
If you are confident that you will be able to crack the JEE exam next year by adopting the right strategy and planning then you can go ahead with it.
However, if you have cleared the JEE Main exam this year and if you are getting admission in a relatively decent college and a branch of your choice, then I would recommend that you take admission and pursue your B. Tech. There are a plethora of opportunities that are waiting for you.
