Dear Ketki Deodhar,
Thank you for visiting us with a question. I am very glad to know that you are a BSc Biotechnology student and further wish to pursue higher studies in the domain.
The M.Sc Biotechnology is one of the promising programmes where aspirants with a graduate in Biology and allied papers are eligible to apply. One pursuing M.Sc in Biotechnology will come across the following courses namely, Medical Biotechnology, Agricultural Biotechnology, Cellular and Molecular Biotechnology, Mathematics for Biologists, Biophysical Chemistry, Molecular Genetics, Immunology, Virology, Molecular Biology of Eukaryotic Systems, Computational Biology & Bioinformatics, Gene Expression, Advanced Immunology and Oncogene Research.
There are two major entrance examinations organised in India for admissions to MSc Biotechnology-JAM and JNUEEB. While JAM is the Joint Admission Test for M.Sc programmes in IITs and NITs; JNUEEB is the All India Biotechnology Entrance Test conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru University on behalf of 34 Universities (where M.Sc. in Biotechnology programme is offered by Department of Biotechnology) in the country.
Hope you have a fair idea from this. Also look forward to further queries from you as the questions help us in learning more and more.
Thank you.
But still I'm very confused to decide subject for Msc. Because I'm not much interested in maths topics (statistics, biophysics) as you mentioned it in syllabus of MSc biotechnology.
Further, considering my SY syllabus I think I've interest in genetics, molecular biology. Also I want to go in research field by taking further education.. PhD.
(sorry but still I've not chosen those two, as I'm still in dilemma. So I thought I'll confirm it in next few months by referring my TY syllabus and my interest to that topics.)
But what you suggest if I choose those two?Do they have scope in future?
I hope this is not too irrational and informal to ask like this!
