Is IIT compulsory for TNEA admissions

Hi,

TNEA admissions are completly based on MPC marks from your 12th Standard and it's doesn't have anything to do with IIT marks.Coming to TNEA admissions the cutoff is caclculated based on the marks obtained in MPC and the breakdown is below.

Mathematics= Marks obtained/2

Physics= Marks obtained/4

Chemistry= Marks obtained/4

Now add these marks to get the cutoff for 200 and based on this a counselling rank will be generated and with the rank a counselling date will be scheduled for you to choose the college that you would like to join based on you rank and from the colleges that are available for your rank.

The colleges even depends on the branch that you would like to choose.The seats are allotted based on your caste and rank.

The person at the centre will ask for the colleges that you prefer(max 3) and if they are available based on your rank and if the seats are available for your caste then he blocks the seat for your TNEA no which will be given with the counselling rank.

This is how the counselling procedure is for getting an admission in TN.
