This time rank will depend upon your percentile score not on the marks.
So tell your percentile score.
And for admission in IIIT Bhubaneswar he has to secure rank under 40-50 thousand .
And for this he has to secure 96-97 + percentile.
But I would suggest him to try to score better in April exam and there are other colleges which are better than IIIT Bhubaneswar so look for them.
