My jee result show a rank but I thought my rank was below the qualified rank what does it mean? Do I have qualified the exam or not

We can help you with this. Rank is based on marks you got in your JEE mains 2018. Your marks decide your rank. There is a cut off for every category. Lets understand with the help of table below.

Here Category means Category you have filled in your application form of JEE mains 2018 ie General, OBC, SC, ST, PwD.
Common rank is for General Category people.

Qualified tell you number of people who have qualified JEE main 2018 exam. For example Top 111275 candidates from general category have qualified cutoff bar and are eligible for JEE advanced 2018.

Min. Marks refers to category wise cut off .This means Candidates who have scored below 74 marks are not eligible for JEE advanced 2018 exams.

This format implies for all categories.

Admission in state govt, best private, NIT's, IIIT's depend on rank a person is getting. Cut off for admission in every college is decided by JoSSA. Usually candidates with higher ranks are more preferred by colleges.

If your jee marks are below cut off marks then you are not qualified.But as you say that in your results there is rank shown then i think you are qualified.
