First of all I think you did a good job because if you study hard and prepare yourself for qualifying examination then you would have a direct entry to IITs. As per query let me just explain it that preparatory rank means that you have not been selected for undergraduate courses in IIT rather what it means that they are willing to give you a chance to stay there and prepare for the examination that would be held after a year and if you qualify that then you would directly get admission to the IIT you choose. So, it depends on your hard work if you qualify with good marks after a year then you will get CSE in that IIT it self. Be careful while selecting IIT because that could be your future institute.
