Hello Sunil,
Well in order to qualify for JEE Mains, one needs to first qualify in their 12th boards or equivalent. To be eligible for JEE Mains, candidates needs to have 75%(for general category) or 40% (for SC/ST category) in 12th boards or equivalent. Now to get seats in NITs,IIITs or GFITs the candidate needs to clear the cutoff for JEE Mains as per their category. Below I have provided 2019 JEE Mains cutoff (percentile) category wise -
- Common Rank List (CRL) : 89.75
- GEN-EWS : 78.21
- OBC-NCL : 74.31
- SC : 54.01
- ST : 44.33
- PwD : 0.11
If you have qualified the above mentioned cutoffs, then you are eligible to get a seat in NITs,IIITs or GFITs.
Now as per your rank in JEE Mains, I can't say for sure whether you will get mechanical enginnering or not. You wont get a seat in 1st round or 2nd round of JoSAA counselling, but can get seat in the later rounds. Better attend the counselling to see whcich colleges and which branch are you getting.
You can also go through this link and check the details regarding JoSAA counselling 2019 : https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/josaa-counselling
You can apply for CSAB counselling also, which is for JEE Main qualified candidates. Those who didn't get a seat through JoSAA can apply for CSAB counselling through which they can get a seat.

Hope this helps you. Good Luck !!!!
Nits ; gftis and other colleges are not possible .
Because you have less than 75 % marks in 12 th and secondly you have secure 8 lakhs rank.
And with this marks and rank it is not possible to get a good ranking and reputated college.
Either you have to go with near by city college on basis of 12 th exam .
Or you should take drop and work for next year.
Good luck.
Hi Sunil,
Since your percentage in 12th board is not in top 20 percentile you are not elligible for admission in IITs etc. Also your low Jee mains rank won't help either. Look for another option in case you have given any state exams like MHT CET and UPSEE etc. Better choice for you would be to take admission in any private institution incase you don't want to take a drop to study and reappear.
Good Luck !!
