• To become a researcher in the field of medicine or to become a pharmaceutical scientist, you must have immense interest in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and the overall scientific process of research. So, at 10+2 level, you'll need to have these subjects (along with Physics, which is compulsory for science students).
• In college, you can pursue an undergraduate degree in the Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biology, Biomedical engineering, Medicine or any such related field.
• The next step is to complete your post graduation in the same course from a recognized institute by choosing your specialization based on aspect of the drug development cycle you want to focus on: its discovery, development or manufacturing.
• Pharmaceutical scientists or medical researchers then typically need to complete their doctoral (Ph.D) or medical degree. Those who want to directly work with patients require to hold a medical license.

From this level onwards, you can start working as a medical researcher or pharmaceutical scientist in drug manufacturing and biotech companies, CROs(Contract Research Organizations), large governmental agencies or private laboratories etc.
