What happens if there is a tie in AIIMS Merit List?
Hi Kritika Tyagi
METHOD OF RESOLVING TIES
The overall merit / ranking shall be based on the Percentile scores.
The method adopted for breaking ties (similar Percentiles) shall be:
(i) Candidates obtaining higher aggregate marks in all the MBBS/BDS Professional Examinations shall be placed higher than candidates with lower aggregate marks in MBBS/BDS Professional Examinations.
(ii) In case there is still a tie, after step (i) above, according to age (Date of birth), the older candidate shall get preference over the younger one.
Hope this helps
Dear Kritika,
Like in all other major competitive exams, there could arise a situation where two or more candidates score the same percentile in AIIMS MBBS. In such a situation, AIIMS New Delhi will use a tie-breaker method which will be on the basis of the following order of steps:
-
Biology: Higher percentile scores in Biology will result in higher ranking.
-
Chemistry: If however, the Biology percentiles do not break the tie, higher percentile in Chemistry will result in a higher ranking.
-
Physics: If Biology and Chemistry percentiles also do not break the tie, higher percentile scores in Physics will result in higher ranking.
-
Age: In case the above methods fail to break the tie, the candidate older in age will be ranked higher.
Thus, on the basis of the above steps, a tie in the AIIMS Merit List will be resolved. Hope this helps!
