what happens when i fail in cs practical and pass in cs theory

Listen , both theory and practical is Important for passing the exam. Talking about practical , generally if a student lacking with few numbers then the teachers gave preference . Nevertheless , if candidate fails to pass the first attempt , then you will have to appear in the examination.
But you should try to get at least passing marks the practical so it becomes easier for you to clear the exam.
Overall at least passing marks is compulsory.

Computer Science and Engineering is generally a practical embedded subject which have some portion of theory also. Overall result for any subject is formed based upon the aggregate score formed by combining theory and practical subjects so if you have perform good in theory examination you can still pass the examination if your aggregate crosses the minimum marks requirement. It also depends upon the rule your college follows suppose that if the college says that it is necessary to pass separately in practical and theory subjects then you would have to clear backlog in the next semester.
