The basic criteria for admission in any college or university for any undergraduate course is that tge candidate should be pass in his 10 +2 examination and the same criteria goes for DU as well.
Now if you fail in physics, it means you are fail in your 12th examination
So , if you fail in physics then you cannot get admission in DU irrespective of percentage or marks obtained by you in rest of the subjects

if you are fail in a subject then you can not get an admission. fail in one subject means you have not qualified intermediate.
eligibility criteria of DU is :- qualified in 12th from a recognized board. percentage considered is different for different streams.
- BA (hons) english:- 55% comination of best 4 and 55% or more in english
- BA (hons) hindi:- 55% comination of best 4 and 55% or more in hindi
- B.A. (Hons.) Bengali / Punjabi / Sanskrit / Urdu :- 40% or more
- B.A. (Hons.) French/ German/ Italian/ Spanish :- 45% or more
- BSc,BCom:- 50%
