Hey aspirant,
Engineering courses at VIT Vellore are divided into two groups - Group A and Group B. Further seats are divided into Category 1, Category 2, 3, 4, 5.
How this works is that top ranked students in VITEEE get admission for Category 1 seats, for students obtaining upto 7000 rank. The next 7k-15k ranked students get admission for Category 2 seats, which has a higher fees than category 1 and same follows for Category 3,4,5 seats. Lower the category, lower is the fees but rank should be high. If your rank is low, then expect to pay higher fees for getting a seat in higher category (3,4,5)
