The Supreme Court case around CMC’s petition against the NEET common counselling process has now been listed for February 9, 2018 .

The case was last heard by a two-member Bench comprising Justices Arun Mishra and MM Shantanagoudar who issued instructions for other similar cases involving Christian Medical College and Christian Dental College in Ludhiana, to be clubbed together with CMC Vellore’s. It looks like the verdict for these cases, in which both the unrelated institutions are seeking a separate counselling process outside of NEET, will be given on February 9.

The chances of admissions being conducted for the remaining 99 vacant MBBS seats at CMC Vellore for 2017-18 is extremely low. But given that it is the Supreme Court, any verdict may be issued. The most likely possibility at this point would be that the current batch would proceed with one student only and interested candidates will have to appear for and qualify NEET 2018 to apply to CMC for the 2018-19 session irrespective of whether it is the MCC or the college which conducts the counselling. Other unlikely possibilities include candidates being allowed admissions as per a modified session schedule, or perhaps be allowed to use their NEET 2017 score for next year’s admissions.

Hon'ble Supreme Court give the next date of hearing on case of CMC vellore 10 January 2018.

Nothing Much can be said in this regard at present. In next hearing too, SC might give ots verdict or just give another date.

I would like ot suggest you to focus on your preparation of NEET so that a good marks can be scored which would be quite enough for you to grab a well reputed medical college og your choice. And if your only college of choice is CMC, Vellore... then ... Hope for the Best and Prepare for the Worst.

Update: Dear Akram, as you may know, the institution's petition against NEET Common Counselling was scheduled to be heard by the Supreme Court in October 2017. However, the case was finally listed for November 3 before the three judge panel comprising Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice DY Chandrachud. A final verdict however is still pending. As per the information provided by the Supreme Court, the final hearing on the case has been listed for December 6, 2017. Therefore, it is most likely that the admission process for the remaining 99 seats will resume once the Supreme Court issues its order, which may either be in favour of CMC's process or the NEET Common Counselling process, which you can confirm by December 6, 2017. The SC has been sympathetic to CMC'S own mode of selection in the past and we are looking forward to a favourable verdict endorsing our admission process". SO, till the judgement is given it is uncertain what will happen to remaining 99 seats...but hopefully it will be in students favor and 99 deserving candidate get admission there.....We will update as the decision of Supreme court is out....remain connected....thanks...

Hi Akram, As per the recent news, here's the gist of the matter: - The CMC board of admissions is NOT against NEET, they don't mind replacing State Board marks with NEET scores, but they also want to retain their other criteria for admissions, which include their interview process, group discussions, etc. - The college has been allegedly accused of non-transparency with admission process, which the college has denied As of now, the course at CMC will continue with the current status: the only admitted student, nominated by the Government under the Defence Quota. The admission process will proceed as per the verdict of the Supreme Court. I hope this answers your question
