To become an Air Traffic Controller (ATC) in India after completing Class 12, the next immediate step is to pursue a relevant bachelor's degree, as a degree in Science or Engineering is mandatory for eligibility. You must enroll in a graduation program such as a B.Sc. with Physics and Mathematics or a B.Tech/B.E. in any discipline (like Electronics, Telecommunications, or Electrical) from a recognized university, ensuring you maintain at least a 60% aggregate. After graduation, you need to clear the official AAI ATC recruitment exam conducted by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), which consists of a written test, a voice test, and a medical examination. Successful candidates then undergo one year of intensive formal training at the Civil Aviation Training College (CATC) in Allahabad before being posted as Junior Executives (ATC) and eventually obtaining a license from the DGCA.
