NIT Rourkela offers undergraduate courses such as BTech, BArch, postgraduate courses namely MTech, MBA, MSc and PhD programmes in various specialisations. These courses are offered across more than 20 departments in this institute.
Mechanical Engineering Branch The facilities and infrastructure available in the department are very good. It has all the facilities that help students to get connected virtually. Labs and classrooms are integrated with online facilities and computers.
Fees You can expect a total fees of 6.40 lakhs including hostel and mess charge.
Placements 85% of students got placed in this course who opted for placements. The highest package offered is around 12 LPA, and the lowest package is around 3.5 LPA. The average package offered in this course is 6 LPA. The top recruiting companies are Exxon Mobil, Bajaj, Tata Steel, TCS Innovator etc.
Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering Branch It has Wi-Fi in the department, a digital library, study rooms, parking, and a very eco-friendly environment for the students. The teachers are highly qualified in their respective fields of study. The course curriculum is relevant and with leading IITs and other world-class universities.

Placements Around 70%-85% of students were placed according to our seniors. The highest salary package offered in our branch was 21 LPA, and the average salary package offered was around 6.3 LPA-7 LPA. Coco-Cola and Pepsico are some major companies which recruit EIE students.

NIT R is a great college for all branches. I will suggest EIE to be a better option because you will get a better placements offer for EIE. ECE and EIE are most beneficial streams among the core branches w.r.t the final year placement. MNC prefer a EIE and ECE engineer than a mechanical engineer. Along with it if you develop more technical skills like tele-communication, web development etc. they can give you an even better placement offer.
