which score is considered for the cutoff the actual Marks or the precentile score?
Hello Aspirant,Percentile score is considered for cutoff as it is a score that the no of percentage of student got marks equal to less than you. Percentile is taken in case exam is held in many papers some paper might be easy or some may be tough, so to equalise all the papers percentile is taken, if you got 90 percentile then it means 90 percent of student got less than or equal to marks in the paper that paper.
Dear aspirant,
Percentile is just another representation of how much marks you have got to calculate the cutoff both are used and can be used simultaneously as both of them represent the same thing in different way. Your marks are the absolute thing which you have got in the examination however the percentile is a relative thing which indicates from how many percentage of the test takers you have performed better.
Forfor exams like common aptitude test cat etc percentile is used for exams like jee neet etc, marks are used.
thank you.
