To know a student’s interest in any field, usually things like these are considered:

What subjects they enjoy the most

What activities they like to do in free time

Their performance in different subjects

Their goals or dreams
-
If they talk about a specific career again and again
Sometimes, schools or counsellors also ask students directly or give them small tests or forms to understand their interest better.
Once the interest is clear, then students are given chances through projects, courses, or career guidance related to that field.
