M.Sc Physics - Batch of 2025-01-01
Academics
The M.Sc. Physics program was academically demanding and helped me strengthen my understanding subjects like quantum mechanics, electronics, condensed matter physics, and mathematical physics. Th faculty members were knowledgeable and encouraged research-oriented thinking. At the same time, 1 f that some practical sessions could have included more modern instruments and software-based learning.
College Infra
North-Eastern Hill University has a beautiful campus surrounded by greenery, with well-equipped physics laboratories, a central library, hostels, and research facilities. I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, which wa ideal for studying. However, some laboratory equipment and hostel facilities could have been better maintained.
Campus Life
Campus life was peaceful rather than fast-paced. I enjoyed interacting with students from different parts of the country, attending seminars, and participating in cultural festivals. The natural surroundings made the university a great place for higher studies, although students looking for a vibrant city lifestyle might find Shillong quieter than expected.
Placements
Placements for M.Sc. Physics students were not a major highlight of the program. Most students opted for research, Ph.D. programs, teaching, or competitive examinations such as SIR-NET and GATE. Students interested in corporate careers had to explore internships and off-campus opportunities on their own.
Value For Money
I found the program to be worth the investment because the fee structure was affordable, and the university provided quality education and research exposure. However, students expecting direct placement opportunities after completing the course may need to manage their expectations and focus on developing additional skills.

B.Tech Energy Engineering - Batch of 2028-01-01
Academics
Academics could have been way better if our professors taught up to date syllabus and taught in a more applicable and engaging way instead of only making us write notes.
Just because the university didn't maintain the departments (only speaking of B.Tech) it could have been way better. Although for PG courses it seems to be decent after interacting with people pursuing the same.
College Infra
The facilities apart from academics will suffice. Canteens all over the campus, a cafe, a general store inside the campus, and a small bakery. There are small shops all over the campus and 2 big shops (One near boys hostel and the other one being near girl's hostel). About labs (for me as I'm studying energy engineering), we don't have equipment to perform most of the experiments and in some of the classrooms there are smart boards although its common but its still there so I had to mention it. Library is big enough although it closes around 8-8:30 PM. 5 MBps wifi in every hostel and departments. For sports we have an indoor badminton court, around 4 basketball courts, one volleyball court, and 1 football field. Also there is a SAI (Sports authority of india) campus inside our main campus but its only used for certain occasions. Hostel is manageable although the mess food is not good.
Campus Life
Campus has to be one of the best things about this university. Peaceful, filled with tall pine trees and amazing view points with a lake and a waterfall that requires a trekk to get there.
You might as well feel like you are on a vacation while experiencing this campus. Good for photographers,explorers or poets/writers to ponder upon some ideas just because this campus gives you the environment to do so. 10/10 place to spend some good time with your friends.
Placements
Close to no placements for the students studying B.Tech here and most of the students get placed off-campus if they do. Even mass recruiters (tech companies) do not visit this university and the students are meant to work hard and get placed off-campus.
Value For Money
21-22k INR per semester is quite well priced in my opinion.

MA History - Batch of 2025-01-01
Academics
My course was history, I have done master in it. The quality of teaching is very good and the teachers are very punctual, professional, and good. The curriculum is updated and adds lots of new modern topics in the course syllabus.
College Infra
The college has good infrastructure, facilities and equipments. The classrooms are equipped with wifi, labs, projectors for different conference and assignment. The living spaces are so quite and clean. The food quality is okay okay.
Placements
There are many career related webinars happen in the college and the college is very supportive in this matter. The students are placed in many companies and the salary is good as a starting point. It is very pleasant and the process is quite easy and helpful.

No, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) primarily offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes in Microbiology. It does not generally offer a B.Sc. (Undergraduate) in Microbiology at its main campus.
