BA French Hons - Batch of 2026-01-01

Academics

Academics at JNU are rigorous and diverse, with faculty renowned in their fields. The BA French program combines language mastery with cultural studies, supported by experienced professors. Regular seminars, research exposure, and access to vast resources enhance learning. The academic culture encourages critical thinking, though coursework can be intense for beginners.

College Infra

JNU offers decent academic infrastructure with spacious classrooms, a central library, language labs, and good internet connectivity. While some buildings feel old, greenery and open spaces make it pleasant. For BA French, the School of Language facilities are well-equipped, fostering a comfortable learning environment. Maintenance could be more consistent in hostels.

Campus Life

The JNU campus is vibrant, safe, and full of cultural life. Open debates, fests, and linguistic diversity make it ideal for BA French students to mingle across disciplines. Green spaces, 24/7 dhabas, and a sense of community create lasting memories. It’s not just a university—it’s a life experience in itself.

Placements

Placements are not the strongest for language courses, but opportunities exist in translation, interpretation, teaching, and embassies. For BA French students, internships and freelance work often precede formal jobs. Career Cell support is moderate; proactive networking and skill-building significantly help. MNC interest is growing but mainly for tech and research roles.

Value For Money

JNU is exceptional in affordability, with minimal tuition fees and subsidized hostels. For BA French, the cost-to-quality ratio is outstanding. Students get access to top faculty, academic resources, and extracurricular activities at a fraction of private university prices. The low cost leaves room for spending on language certifications or study abroad.

Have questions related to JNU Delhi?
Is JNU or Delhi university good for doing MPH?

Hello,

Yes, both JNU and Delhi University are good options for pursuing an MPH (Master of Public Health). However, JNU has a more research-oriented and global approach, while Delhi University offers strong academics with good public health exposure.

Admission is usually based on CUET-PG or university entrance tests.

Hope you understand.

Hi I am Shimpli of class 12 I want to do BA in French for interpritation for that how much marks I have to score in CUET as SC...Subject I have to choose in CUET how should I study GAT for that to get addmision in JNU

Hi Shimpli! To pursue BA in French (Interpretation) at JNU through CUET, you should aim for a good percentile above 75 to 80% as SC category cutoffs are usually lower than general, but still competitive. In CUET, you will need to choose a language test (French, if offered, or English), plus subjects like General Test . For GAT, focus on reasoning, general knowledge, current affairs, and basic math. Regular practice with sample papers and previous year CUET papers will help you improve speed and accuracy. With consistent study, you’ll have a good chance of admission.

I had my jee results which was 81.69 percentile.Gen EWS male, home state Andhra pradesh.Do I get ECE seat in JMI or AMU or NIT HAMIRPUR or jnu.

With 81.69 percentile in JEE Main under the General EWS category, getting ECE in JMI, AMU, JNU, or NIT Hamirpur would be quite difficult. For these institutes, the cutoff for ECE usually stays higher, often above 90–95 percentile for EWS candidates. JMI and AMU tend to have competitive cutoffs because of limited seats, while JNU and NIT Hamirpur also require a higher percentile. However, you still have good chances in other NITs, IIITs, or state-level colleges where the cutoff percentile is comparatively lower.
