Pair the degree with a skill, like data analysis or digital marketing, and it becomes much stronger.
Careers360 lists BFA, performing arts and event management among the options after Arts. These non technical degrees in 2027 are good for students with a creative streak. Careers include graphic design, animation, branding, fashion and interior design. For these BFA and design courses, your portfolio often counts as much as your marks.
BHM prepares you for hotels, airlines, cruise lines and travel companies. Event management covers weddings, fashion shows, exhibitions and corporate events. Both are people-first careers where communication matters more than technical skill.
Jobs are changing, so choose with that in mind. Fields or non technical courses in 2027 that tend to keep growing:
Business and management: every company needs people to sell, plan and lead
Digital media and content: brands need writers, editors and video creators
Law and compliance: rules around data, work and business keep expanding
Design and branding: online presence is now a basic need
Psychology and counselling: more awareness around mental health is creating demand
A word of honesty: no degree guarantees a job. What decides your career is the skills you add on top of it, plus internships and real projects.
Here's a simple trick that works for almost every non-technical degree: pair it with one modern skill.
BBA + data analytics or digital marketing
BJMC + video editing or SEO
BA + a language, research or AI tools
B.Com + financial modelling or accounting software
Even if you don't code, learning AI tools helps a lot. You can also read this guide AI courses after 12th, where some options suit students from every stream.
Ask yourself these things before you apply:
What do I enjoy doing on an ordinary day: writing, talking, designing, planning?
What are the fees for the full course, not just the first year?
Does the college have internships and placement support?
Will I need an entrance exam, or does merit decide?
Can I add a skill or specialisation alongside it?
You don't need a technical degree to build a good career in India. BBA, BJMC, law, psychology, design and hotel management all offer real paths, and each one gets stronger when you add a practical skill. Pick the field you can see yourself working in for years, check the eligibility and fees on the official course pages, and start building small projects or internships early. The degree opens the door, and your skills decide how far you walk through it.
