With 42 percentile in the JEE Main exam, chances are tough to qualify the JEE Main exam and appear for JEE Advanced. You should prepare well and appear for JEE Main April exam and aim to score better in the April attempt to qualify the exam.

If you look for the previous years trend then, if you belong to general category than you may not qualify. Last year the cutoff for them was 89 percentile. And if you have any category then it's ok, and you have some chance to qualify.
Better focus on april
With 68 percentile score in the JEE Main exam, chances seem to be less of getting a seat in NITs, IIITs and good engineering colleges. You should appear for the JEE Main April exam and aim to perform better in the April attempt to get a seat in any
22 percentile won't be enough for any category except pwd to get qualified for jee advanced. Last year the qualifying percentile was 89 for general Category. So, focus on upcoming session of jee mains in april and get better score.

The chances of getting into NITs can be decided once we know the rank.
