How is placements for civil, biotechnology engineering

rehan18alam Student Expert 30th May, 2019

Hi Mayur,

Both of these branches are good branches but for placement point of view, biotechnology is ahead of that of civil engineering. But before that, I would like to highlight one of the most important point, that for any engineering branch placements one the most important thing for placements is the college from which you have studied. If you have studied from some Top NIT or IITs or GFTIs then there's a high possibility that you will make it to any big company with any of the aforementioned branches but if the college is not a good one then you will struggle to find a decent job. However, in such a case you will find it easy to get a placement in biotechnology as compared to civil engineering.

The main reason for this is that biotechnology is an advanced branch of engineering and only a handful of colleges are providing this branch in their curriculum. This reduces the competition and hence the chances of placements increases.

But as I have said it earlier that you should try to make it to a good college as it is only then you have an upper hand in placements. For the admission process in NITs and IITs, you have to give JEE main exam. Here are the details of the exam:- https://engineering.careers360.com/exams/jee-main

best UG course for science topper in 12 th science

Nil Choudhury Student Expert 30th May, 2019
See it's next to impossible to determine which course will be the best in terms of job availability after 4-6 years cause the trends are always changing for example a few years ago we had the I.T sector in India booming and everyone wanted to take I T but that craze has slowly died down trends keep changing with that being said I am listing a couple of options with what I think is best amongst them , keeping options open I've talked about Diploma, degree, and Medical
See medical courses will always be in demand anyone you go thus chances of landing a job is better there with that being said here are the lists

TECHNICAL COURSES-

ENGINEERING (B.E./B.TECH.)

  • This course is for those who wish to become an engineer. Comprising of 8semisters/4 years for a bachelor degree. Followed by a master's degree that is usually of 2-3 years. Certain core fields require you to do master's before getting a well paid job . Eg electronics (vlsi). The following are the most common and in demand fields
  • Electronics engineering
  • Computer engineering **
  • Electronics and telecommunication**
  • It engineering**
  • Mechanical engineering**
  • Aeronautical engineering
  • Textile engineering
  • Chemical engineering**
  • Production engineering
  • Aeronautical engineering
The ones marked in ** are the ones that are most demanded by toppers everywhere and have a lot of scope

DIPLOMA
DIPLOMA courses are of 3 years in length but since you've finished 12 I'll suggest you directly take up either Medical via neet or b.tech/B.e via jee mains or State entrance exams.
B.S.C
You always have the option to do B.Sc in the same courses of engineering I've mentioned they are of 3 years in duration and are a bit more simplified than B.E/B.Tech. I suggest you to research individually in the topics I've marked * and see if you like those courses because I've seen many students who chose a course because it was the best from a job perspective but they lost interest in the 3rd year and ended up with poor results. Where as students who genuinely loved electronics took that couse despite the fact that it wasn't much in demand few years ago but they loved the course a performed well and landed themselves a high paying job.
Choose what you feel is best and consider others suggestions to look upon.
