I am a BE cse student. what are the courses available for me to do when i pass on the gate exam. the best course ?? ur suggestions?

apuroop sri durgesh 18th Nov, 2019

Gate is one of the highly reputed exam one can take after their engineering. There are many options one can choose through gate. As you are of CSE branch, there are less number of job openings through psu's and other government jobs, Some of the government organizations that recruit people from Cse branch when they qualify through gate are as follows.

Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) Power System Operation Corporation Ltd. (POSOCO) Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd. (PSPCL West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL)

All these organizations had job openings for 2019 for a Computer science engineering with good gate score, however the circumstances may change and different number of organizations may have job openings for next year.

The other way is getting an admission into IIT's through gate score, this could be the best choice because the job offers one may get after completion of M.tech in IIT's are very high and  the packages are sky-soaring. The average salary for a mtech qualifed person of Cse in an IIT may get a salary on an average of 25lakhs-1 crore per annum. So, you can understand the competition for this course . However, there are cutoff marks for every campus of IIT and you can have a look at this link for finding out the cutoff marks.

You need to spend several hours of time to prepare for gate and crack the gate exam.

Hope this information helps.

Good luck and All the Best for Your future.

I am studying in Jadavpur university with B.E. construction engineering and I want to form the very first year of my B.E. course prepare for the GATE exam after the graduation. What study plan should I maintain ?

chandra keerthi pothina 28th Dec, 2019

Hey Sourab.

GATE for the major part concentrates on the core subjects which are more likely to be taught from your second year or may be second semester. As of now concentrate on semetser exams and prepare for the caculus and aptitude part of GATE exam.

Go through previous years GATE papers see which core subject carries how many marks or questions and try and focus specially on those topics as you go through every semester. You can even make seperate notes for those special topics and save them for later when you would giive GATE in your final year. Save your notebooks and textbooks for the same.

hope this helped

Akram Khan 27th Dec, 2019

Hi,

To crack the gate exam you should study sincerely. As this is a prestigious exam the questions asked in the exam are of higher level.

You should first throughly read the syllabus and previous year's question papers and then plan your study accordingly.

Practicing the question daily after reading a topic helps. Similarly solving  the previous year question not only give you idea about pattern of exam it also give you idea about the important topics and weightage given to the particular topic.

Point out all the important topics and concept and practice them hard .Stick to the syllabus that is study only that which is given in the syllabus.

Hope you find this helpful.

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 17th Nov, 2019
Hello there!

Greetings!

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering i.e.GATE is an entrance exam  conducted at the national level in India with an aim to examine the understanding of various engineering and science undergraduate subjects.
  • The use of GATE exam is that it is for admission to M.Tech programmes offered by government( like iit , nit etc) as well as many private institutes. You can use your GATE scores for admission purposes in the IITs through the Common Online Admission Portal (COAP) for IITs and CCMT for NITs or even apply to leading PSUs which recruit on the basis of the same.
  • It is a national-level post-graduate entrance exam that is jointly conducted by the seven IITs i.e. Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Guwahati, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore.

given a and b input terminals logic 1 is equals to get in 5 world logic zero is equals to less than 1 volt which logic Gate operate the or does

Sonali Sahu Student Expert 17th Nov, 2019
Hello,
It is a standard considered in electronics that 5V power supply is logic 1 and below 1V is logic 0. This because the ICs and other equipments can handle minimum of 5 V to work . If it goes higher than the LED will burn out same goes to other equipments too. If they get any voltage below 1V it won't work and it will become dead which is a sign for 0 logic.
It is NOT gate. If any value less than say 1 becomes 0 and any value is greater than 5  becomes 1. There is a threshold value in it which is a constant. NOT gate only knows that logic value and reverses it in output.
Hope it helps you

is gate compulsory for mechanical engineering student??

S. Saha Student Expert 26th Dec, 2019
GATE is a national level entrance examfor all the students wishing to pursue M.Tech and also a number of Public Sector Units recruit candidates on the basis of their GATE scores. Till now GATE exam is not compulsory for the engineering students. But as per some reports, it will be made compulsory from next academic year. Students who are pursuing technical courses might have to write a mandatory Exit Exam and will have to clear it to get their degree.

Yes, I am a mechanical student pursuing last year. I am prepare for GATE 2020. but I wanted to ask you that, actually I have a 3-year gap in academics so, even if I am getting good marks in GATE 2020, will my gap effect to get a good positional job in the industry?

rehan18alam Student Expert 16th Nov, 2019

Dear Aspirant,

Mos of the recruiters allows a academic gap of 3 years at maximum. So if you have 3 years of academic gap, then you will be okay with most of the companies. However, if you have total gap more than that then it will shrink your opportunities but that does not mean you'll not get a job. It is just some recruiters won't allow you.

Hope this helps. Thank you.
