In order to take the GATE exam, you have to have to have a graduation degree of at least four years.
In your case: B Sc. (Research)/ B.S.- Bachelor’s degree in Science (Post-Diploma/ 4 years after 10+2)
So it is has to be either B.Sc Research or if you have done BS from IISER, then you will be eligible to write the GATE exam.

No,you cannot give GATE examination in third year of your graduation ,you must complete the final year .But ,you can appear for gate while pursuing final year .Eligibility is to pass your graduation ,there is no requirement of minimum pass percentage ,no age limit and no limits for Gate applicants you can apply end number of times.You just go through the link provided below to get more information.

The cut off marks varies for each branch and PSU. It is difficult to mention the minimum marks required.Usually cut off for general category candidates will be above 65, for SC/ST candidates 50-70 marks, for OBC 55-65 marks.Cut off is subjected to change every year.You can see more detailed information by clicking the link below

There is no minimum percentage requirement to appear for GATE.A candidate must have passed 4 year B.E or B.tech or 3 year B.Sc or Diploma in engineering in any Science stream from a recognised board or university.There is no age limit.You can appear for GATE any number of times provided you should have passed your bachelor's degree.

the number of employees recruiting through gate in psu is different for different stream. all through most of the companies hires electrical, mechanical, civil. some psus has vacancy for other streams as well. the top most recruiter for psu's for all india is power grid corporation, ntpc, iocl, ongc, posoco etc. last year air port authority of india also recruit al most total of 50 electrical engineers. so the total number is you can expect 200-300 number of seats . after the gate result declared some state government vacancies also arrived through gate exam.
