is iift kolkata worth joining? is any sort of discrimination made between delhi and kolkata students during placement?

Vikas Gaur 17th Apr, 2018

Hi Abhaya,

IIFT is one of the most renowned B-schools in the country. Its trade and finance centric management programs are well-known. The institute works directly under the Ministry of Commerce. There is no difference as such if you talk about the Delhi and Kolkata campus. The institute started from Delhi and expanded to Kolkata and now in Kakinada (AP). I recently visited the IIFT Delhi campus and had a conversation with the Director of the institute, Prof. Manoj Pant. According to him, the institute doesn't compromise in terms of quality of education even though the intake is slightly increased. The institute is also starting an Economic programme and widening its horizons without compromising on its quality and placements. And, placements are certainly not an issue at IIFT whether it's Delhi or Kolkata.

The interview of the Director will soon be published on the Careers360 portal. Visit the website to know more about the institute.

Hope that helps.

How can i get admission in top bschool like MDI GURGAON,INDIAN INSTITUTE OF FOREIGN TRADE,IIMS Etc..Please suggest me

Namita Kumari 11th Apr, 2018
Hello Piyush Gupta,
You can secure admission in top b-school of India by Common Aptitude Test (CAT). If you score above 95 percentile then you can get IIMs. If you score 90-95 percentile then you can get Top private b-school.
Other than this, XAT and GMAT are other entrance exam for admission in bshools.
Apart from good score in CAT/XAT/GMAT, you must have good academic records.
Admission process consists of Personal Interview, Group Discussion also.
Good Luck.

Overall you have a very strong profile now you need an excellent performance in CAT exam. If you can get above 99.6 percentile in CAT then you will definitely get calls from all IIMs and with a decent interview & WAT round you can  get admission

Suraj Mallick 8th Jul, 2018

For XLRI you need to appear for XAT. You need to score 96 percentile and above to get a call for BM and 94 percentile and above for HRM. Besides you also need to clear sectional cut-offs.

If a BE graduate has a career gap of 1-2 years(jobless)if he/she pass CAT exams will he get admission in top Colleges(like IIM,iift, fms, xat)

Amod Tripathi 14th Feb, 2018
Yes definitely you can get into all top B Schools. The final selection in a B School constitutes of CAT Score, Academic scores, Work experience, Professional qualifications(like CA),  academic and gender diversity, GD/Group Activities, Personal Interviews and writing ability tests. Most of the good B School have all or some of these components.

You need to have a high CAT score and then perform well in the further selection process for selection.

All the best!

In which month i have to take Gmat exam to get a call from iims and iift in the year 2019

Akshay Kadam 19th Jan, 2018

First of all Sivaramaraju none of the IIMs and IIFT gives admission through GMAT for their regular full-time MBA programme. In IIMs you get admission through GMAT for executive MBA programme which is a one year course and is applicable to the students with atleast more than 5 years work experience.

For the regular MBA programme, IIMs especially conducts CAT exam and that is the only exam to get admission in any of the IIMs whereas to get admission in Indian Institute of foreign trade it conducts its own examination named IIFT for the admission in both centres - Delhi & Kolkatta. GMAT score is only valid for foreign students to get admission in the college.

If you are an NRI then you would be eligible to take admission through GMAT score and it will be good to give this examination in the month of Oct-Dec because after that second round procedure starts for all the candidates. But this is applicable only if you are a foreign student.

GMAT is an exam which is mainly conducted across the world to pursue your MBA degree from the foreign b-schools. In India top, most Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad, is the one which gives admission to students only on the basis of GMAT examination score. Some of the private colleges in India also accept GMAT score along with other MBA exam scores like CAT, MAT, CMAT, XAT etc. to give admission in their college.

IIFT 2017 exam Result will be declared on or before January 5, 2018.  The result is under process and is going through the final lag of checks before the final declaration. More than 2000 candidates will find their names in the first shortlist for the GD-PI-WAT round at IIFT for a total intake of 420 seats at IIFT Delhi, Kolkata and Kakinada campuses.

There were 62000 candidates who had registered to appear in IIFT 2017 entrance exam and out of the 55000 candidates appeared in the entrance exam for admission to 420 seats in different campuses of IIFT MBA (IB) 2018-20 batch on December 3, 2017.

Along with the result, IIFT 2017 scorecard and the shortlist of candidates will also be released. A score of 45 to 48 in IIFT 2017 exam may lead to 90+ percentile on the scorecard. IIFT had shortlisted 1973 candidates for final admission round and posted the list on its site last year.
