hope you are doing well and safe. With reference to your query, I would glad inform you that as compared to cse and it scope of core mechnical engineering is less . Now a days , students of mechanical branch are preparing for IT sector jobs due to less opportunities . However,if your colleges is tier-1 colleges then defintately you will have wide variety of opportunities and main things is consistency of efforts
Hi,
Now a days , the jobs and placement scanerio for CSE is very good. Because of this most of the students want to get into CSE. For Mechanical, the placement is not that good when you compare with CSE. IIIT Kancheepuram is among the newer IIITs. The Placement of CSE is good with Median Salary of around 9 lakhs. But for Mechanical it is not that good when compared with CSE. Mechanical Students do get placed but with lower CTC. So, if you are feeling CSE in any other IIITs, then you should go for that ,else you can take Mechanical.
In order to predict which other colleges you could get ,you can use this tool : https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-college-predictor?utm_source=qna&utm_medium=jee_cp
