First of all you need to know that JRF/NET is a certification exam only and further it totally depend on the institute to which you want to pursue your Ph.d . So It will be difficult for us to predict either you need to go through a written exam or an interview .
As the procedure vary institute to institute and branch to branch . So in order to get a clarification you should try to contact some faculty or student there.

CSIR net: CSIR UGC NET is a national-level exam conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) to select candidates for theposition of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and for determining their eligibility to appoint as lecturers in Indian universities and colleges.
CSIR-UGC NET Exam for Science stream is conducted by CSIR in the following areas: -
1. Chemical Sciences
2. Earth Sciences
3. Life Sciences
4. Mathematical Sciences
5. Physical Science
you may chose any of the subject which is nearest to your education qualification. since you are from zoology background life science is the fair choice.
UGC NET: On behalf of University Grants Commission (UGC), the National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted for determining the eligibility Of candidates to become Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Assistant Professor Both, in Indian Universities and Colleges.

In order to appear for CSIR NET, candidates are required to pass BTech/BPharm/MSc/Integrated BS-MS/MSc/MBBS securing 55% aggregate for General/OBC Category, in case of reserved categories such as SC/ST/PwD they need 50% only, the age limit for JRF is 28 years while in case of assistant professor there is no upper age limit, coming to your question you can apply for CSIR NET with MSc in Medical Physiology provided you meet the other requirements as well in terms of aggregate against your category and age in case of JRF only.
