Talking about the different perspective, I would suggest that choose a college which is nearer to home. The reason why I am suggesting that is because in term of fees for the program, i.e. ECE both colleges charges nearly same amount, but VIT is slightly on the higher end as compared to Amrita.

Considering the ranking of both the colleges in terms of engineering, Amrita was ranked 15 all over India, and VIT secured 17 rank all over India.

Now talking from the placement perspective, we will see VIT first:

Salary depends solely on your excellence and brilliance. Maximum salary offered is 23.3LPA this time by citibank,Morgan Stanley, followed by NVIDIA 18.4 LPA then Barclays 15.5LPA and so on. An average guy gets salary of 4.5-5.5 LPA. But for CS and IT graduates, minimum 3.5 LPA is assured.

Now this is the placement scenario in Amrita university:

Placements in Amrita University are really very good. Many core companies visit here like Microsoft, Intel, Amazon, DirectI, etc. And nothing about the campus, Placements of all three campuses are held together at coimbatore campus. Highest placement last year of CSE went to a student of ICPC club of Amritapuri Campus around 20lacs. Being a CSE student in Amrita University, one shouldn't worry about the placements. Average placement is around 4-5 lacs.

But at last I would suggest you to go with VIT university because of its infrastructure, placements, aluminis, results and lot more reputation too. You'll get a lot more exposure in VIT.
